It is vitally important to communicate your personal brand on LinkedIn via Storybranding.
Done correctly, a Storybrand creates a very powerful emotional connection with your LinkedIn audience and helps to communicate your Success Story in a very compelling manner.
To a large degree, your success on LinkedIn depends on your ability to pinpoint the right audience and speak to their problems and desires
Thanks to the new LinkedIn algorithm, it is now possible to identify both the demographics and the psychographics of your target audience on LinkedIn
By identifying your LinkedIn Messaging Pillars, you will make sure that all your communication sticks to your message and is on point - and that you will never be at risk of posting content that could be considered negatively and destroy your reputation.

Your Content Marketing Plan enables you to systematically and holistically plan your LinkedIn Content for each quarter at a time
and to schedule your LinkedIn posts such that you ensure your LinkedIn posts are published at the best times for your audience.
Since the beginning of humanity, storytelling has been the key to communicating meaning and inspire your audience.
Says Richard Branson: “Storytelling can be used to drive change. Telling a story is one of the best ways we have of coming up with new ideas.”

This is the greatest Service you can ever deliver to anybody -
As you will see below, some of my Upfluencer Stories earned 600k+ and many 100k+ views - and engaged more than 7.5m viewers on LinkedIn.
However, becoming an Upfluencer is not a competition but rather about the impact you make on other peoples' lives.
Therefore, in this context, going viral refers to posts that have reached 20,000+ LinkedIn members.
The LinkedIn Algorithm only works when you do - in other words, unless your content is engaging and speaks to the real needs of your audience, the LinkedIn algorithm will not increase but rather decrease your reach.
That is why it is vitally important that you analyze your audience and decipher the psychographics of what they truly are looking for on LinkedIn at a deeper level.
These are the four hurdles to clear when you post on LinkedIn ..
Here are the questions you need to ask (and research) if you want to write content that connects with your audience and motivates them to respond positively (based on the Seven Drivers of Motivational Intelligence):
❶ Assurance: How can you reassure them that there is a brighter future awaiting them?
❷ Challenge: How can you challenge them positively to keep going when the chips are down?
❸ Connection: How can you make them feel more connected to the universal values of Truth, Goodness, Unity and Aliveness (as Maslow posited)?
❹ Significance: How can you make them feel more significant in what they are trying to achieve?
Rather than just focusing on problems and painpoints as other marketers do, appeal to the hopes and aspirations of your audience - and always be uplifting.
This is how I managed to earn 7.5 million content views on LinkedIn (see the full list below)
Once you have deciphered what truly motivates your audience, in business as much as in their lives,
Create your content with specific LinkedIn hashtags in mind.
Linkedin content is categorised into Linkedin Hashtags that members follow.
The number of followers vary widely by each hashtag (e.g. #leadership is followed by 3,252,820 LinkedIn Members).
Hashtags allow Linkedin users to “listen” to topics that matter most to them, and in turn, create a better engagement for you.
As you will have noticed, it is getting harder and harder to earn your aidence's attention through information - just talking about your product, even their painpoints and solutions.
Buyers have turned off against the flood of information and we are all suffering from an information overwhelm.
If you want to reach the hearts & minds of your audience, there is no better tool than inspiration - we all need to our daily dose of inspiration and people will remember you for a long time if you uplifted their spirits.
And you never know where your next opportunity might come from - some of my best opportunities came from people outside my buyer's spectrum who opened doors I did not ever know existed.
The Italians have a saying that goes like this "Qui va piano, va sano e va lontano" (The one who goes slowly, goes well and far)
The average life time of a viral post on LinkedIn is 4-7 days - after which views drop off dramatically
However, contrary to the LinkedIn algorithm, inspirational post kept picking up speed day after day, even after a full week - which indicates that good news that celebrates humanity and inspires us to embrace the goodness of others, can outlast the daily frenzy of breaking news and hyped news alerts.

When he first came into office, almost a year ago, Zambia’s new president was ridiculed by skeptics who called him, “the calculator boy,” for his strong focus on the economy and his background as an accountant.
Looking back now, it’s evident that these were the exact skills that Zambia needed to pull itself back from the economic mess it was in at the time, having become the first African country to default on repayments during the pandemic. Since he became president in August last year, Hakainde Hichilema has steered the economy towards stability.
The Zambian kwacha is the best performing currency in the world against the US dollar, rallying over 18.5% from Jan. 22 to Sept. 1.
While continental peers South Africa, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya have been unable to control rising inflation and plunging currencies, Hichilema’s government has managed to reduce the inflation rate from 24.4% in August 2021 to 9.7% in June this year.

Mandisa, who was born in Ntuzuma Kwazulu-Natal grew up in Malvern. She says she realised her love for aviation when she was about five years old when her mother and grandmother used to take them to airshows in Virginia Airport.
Due to the inability to afford the entry fee, Mandisa says her mom would park outside the airport and they would watch the displays from there.
Growing up she thought she wanted to be a doctor but when she was in grade 10, she started researching careers that used math and science.
As a result, she discovered aeronautical engineering. She decided to apply to different universities to study exactly that but she came across an article for the South African Air Force and after seeing that she exceeded the requirements of entry, plus she could become a pilot, she was immediately sold.

Smith became famous throughout South Africa, where his schools have taught almost a million pupils of all races.
He received many accolades for his innovations in teaching, including the highly prestigious "Teacher of the Year" award.

Probably the most in-depth and personal interview with South Africa's 🇿🇦 New shooting star - by the ThisLifeOnline Magazine (full story in the links below)
Has Covid-19 affected your training?
Initially the hard lockdown in 2020 was really difficult with me not being able to train for a few weeks.
And then not being able to go to an Olympics for which we had trained so hard!
But then I realised health and lives are so much more important.
Fortunately, during most of the pandemic our pool facilities at Tuks [Pretoria] University have remained open, and we’ve continued to train as if the Olympics is going ahead.
Your training?
Every week I do eight two-hour swimming sessions and two one-hour gym sessions. It takes discipline!
Training diet?
Egg and toast for breakfast. Veg, protein and carbs for lunch and dinner.
I tend to eat the same things because I know they work for me.
Ultimate comfort food?
Carrot cake. I eat healthily during the week but if I want ice cream or chocolate I don’t feel bad about it. It gives me extra energy!
How do you cope with the competitive pressure?
It can be hard. I find that I do best when I focus on myself and ignore the expectations of others.
You and God?
Even winning Commonwealth gold is nothing compared to how God makes me feel. I don’t think we have any concept of how great He is.
How do you connect with God?
I take time alone with Him. I go to a church called Every Nation, and walk out filled with energy and the sense that nothing in my week can defeat me. I feel alive in His presence.
People who’ve inspired me are…
Obviously Penny Heyns! Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt and Chad le Clos because I know how much hard work it takes to achieve what they have.
But I’ve never wanted to emulate anybody. I’m not them and I like finding my own way.
Guilty pleasure? I don’t have time for one! Even series binge-watching is a foreign concept to me

Siya Kolisi has paid homage to the Grey High old boy who paid for the school bursary that the World Cup-winning Bok skipper admits changed the course of his life.
More than a decade ago, Kolisi was the first recipient of the Vincent Mai Bursary Scheme, which allowed him to attend prestigious Grey High in Port Elizabeth.
In 1964 he moved to London and went on to establish a highly-respected career as a merchant banker in London and the USA over a period of years.
Mai then went on to launch a bursary scheme at his old school for worthy recipients from lesser privileged backgrounds, with Kolisi emerging as a benefactor.
On Sunday, the Bok skipper took to social media to pay tribute to the man who influenced his early life so unexpectedly.
‘Vincent is a fellow Grey boy and has invested in hundreds of kids in SA through bursaries, the majority of the time without ever meeting them.
‘I was one of those kids. Without the opportunity, there is no way I’d be where I am today. He sowed into my life without ever knowing what would come from it, and I couldn’t be more grateful. ‘I’m so honoured to have spent some time with him and his family. I’m so excited for the work we’re about to do in South Africa together.’

And this time around the practice paid off, as Simbine clinched the gold medal, with South Africa winning in 38.71, one-hundredth of a second quicker than Brazil, who were initially credited with second place in 38.72.

In a world 🌎 driven by the need to attract and retain #toptalent, South Africa 🇿🇦 now stands to gain from the brain drain of Europe and the United States.
If leveraged properly, this could position #southafrica favorably and attract professionals to the shores of the country that has birthed many great innovations 💡
Says the report: "South Africa is the sixth most-desired country to #relocate to in the world, a new study has found.
The research was conducted by Compare the Market Australia, which assists users in finding a home loan that matches their individual needs and circumstances.
The website analysed each country on its annual search volume for terms such as “relocating to (country)” and “moving to (country)” to reveal the world’s most desirable countries to relocate to.
It found Canada to be the most-desired country to relocate to in the world, followed by Japan, Spain, China and France, which all ranked in the top five.
Turkey tied with South Africa in sixth with India, Australia, Greece and Fiji rounding off the top 10.
Meanwhile, the least-desired countries to relocate to in the world include Sweden, The Philippines, Bulgaria, Germany, Thailand and Egypt.
Singapore, Myanmar, Italy, and Nigeria were also listed as some of the least desirable, according to the study.
Researchers found that with the rise of working from home in the past couple of years, the number of people who are considering packing up their lives and moving to a new country was also on the rise.

The Chinese actor, 63, told Hong Kong movie site Jayne Stars in an interview last week that he planned on donating his $714 million fortune to charity.
“My dream is to be a happy and normal person,” he told the outlet. “The hardest thing in life is not about how much money you earn, but how to keep a peaceful mindset and live the rest of your life in a simple and carefree manner.”
Chow previously claimed to the outlet that he only spent about $102 a month on himself. He was accustomed to using the same Nokia phone for over 17 years until he finally got a smartphone two years ago — but only because his Nokia stopped working, according to the outlet.
The actor has also been spotted shopping at discount stores.
“I don’t wear clothes for other people,” he told Jayne Stars. “As long as I think it’s comfortable, then it’s good enough for me.”

Albert Einstein accepted that many times the most valuable #ideas occurred to him while doing nothing and enjoying his own "no time."
Steve Jobs was also a "famous bum."
"The time Steve Jobs procrastinated and pondered the possibilities was time well spent letting more divergent ideas emerge," Wharton professor Adam Grant once told Business Insider of Jobs' long periods of aimless inactivity.
It is worth mentioning that both geniuses — Einstein and Jobs — managed to do a great job of putting their ideas into practice.
Not only is "no time" enough to be able to change the world, it is an essential ingredient and a part of the whole.
When you're planning the perfect morning routine, it's easy not to give "no time" the attention it deserves, but you should definitely always include it in your everyday life.
You will see a change in the way you think and create, and achieve a more successful version of yourself.

For the first time in a long time, South Africa's 🇿🇦 economy is outpacing the US, UK and France 🇫🇷 ---
The local economy bounced back in May 2022 after experiencing some moderation in the previous month, the latest figures in the monthly BankservAfrica Economic Transactions Index (BETI) show.
“The BETI increased by a significant 9.9% in May 2022 compared to a year ago to reach the highest level since August 2021,” said Shergeran Naidoo, BankservAfrica’s head of stakeholder engagements.
“The May reading was also a substantial improvement on the 4.9% – revised from 4.5% – recorded in April.”
Following revisions to the seasonal factors, the actual index level reached an all-time high at 143.5. The strong number was unexpected in light of the many headwinds that surfaced in the local economy over recent weeks ...

Zozibini Tunzi has opened up to Trevor Noah on the hate she's been receiving since being crowned Miss SA and Miss Universe.
Zozibini admitted that some had felt that she was a “downgrade” Miss SA winner when she won the title in August.
She added that the backlash got more international when people found out that she was going to compete in Miss Universe.
“International people started commenting and I think my most interesting one was when I came to New York, I think four months ago. It was late in the evening and I took a photo of my apartment and I was like, it's such a beautiful night and a comment came in saying, 'this photo is so black, it's as black as you are, Miss ugly SA'".
She goes on to say that, "I'm not mad because it's just how society has labeled beauty to be. It's just how we've been programmed to look at beauty in that way. The further you are from being fair, the uglier you are."

Great news for reviving one of South Africa's 🇿🇦 most iconic race 🏁 tracks ---
"The buzz started last week with a report in Dutch outlet The Telegraaf stating that we’ve been added to next year’s schedule.
There has been nothing via any official channels, either in South Africa or from the FIA, but last night, social media was abuzz with reports that we will be welcoming Formula One back to our shores after a three-decade wait.
Two accounts, in particular, sent out news which was shared far and wide
Neither of those accounts has a massive following and many were hesitant (we’ve been burnt before – 2023 Rugby World Cup still hurts) to get carried away.
However, Sasha Martinengo, a leading voice in South Africa’s F1 scene, has stated that the news comes from a “pretty reliable source”:
"Unconfirmed yet pretty reliable source is claiming that the South African GP at Kyalami is CONFIRMED for 2023. Formula 1 and DHL have signed a 5-YEAR contract. Formula 1 will return to South Africa after nearly 30 years since the last Grand Prix."

Dr Lindiwe Sidali has made history by becoming the first African female cardiothoracic surgeon in the country.
A doctor for 10 years, Sidali, 35, described her journey as both challenging and enlightening.
"I became aware that I was an African female in a speciality that is famously known for being a male dominated and I learnt to embrace who I am and what I represent.
"It’s been challenging but it’s also been a great adventure, and I could not have done it without the support of the amazing people that I had by my side."
She said it was her parents, strong feminists who encouraged her to pursue her dreams.
"They instilled in us values that as girls we were enough to stand on our own, despite and against the odds and societal norms.

A simple act of lending R100 to a customer in need has multiplied beyond petrol attendant Nkosikho Mbele's wildest dreams, as the customer's crowdfunding campaign has seen her raise almost R300 000 for him in return so far.
South Africans have reached into their pockets to reward Mbele's act of kindness after his story went viral on multiple platforms on Friday.
Mbele, 28, on Thursday paid for Monet van Deventer's petrol from his own pocket when she stopped at his station on the N2 near Makhaza on her way to Cape Town, having realised she had forgotten her bank card.
In a Facebook post, she said he told her: "Ma'am you can't run out of petrol on the N2. I'll throw in R100 and then you can just bring back my R100 whenever you are near again."
He then put petrol in her tank, paying with his own bank card, and without taking down her details.
Van Deventer in her personal message on the BackaBuddy fundraising platform said she would love to do something for him in return since he "saved [her] life".
"He trusted me [to return]. On my way back, I found him and returned his blessing. I asked him why he helped and trusted a stranger. He replied, 'Ma'am I am a believer'. "Thank you Nkosikho for giving me hope for South Africa ...

When the fight broke out that night near the hostel, the Zulu men panicked and started to look for Jonathan, who was nowhere to be found.
It must have been a bunch of worried Zulu men who walked back to their hostel block that night wondering what happened to their mlungu, for it was obvious that if anything bad happened to the white boy it would no doubt attract the feared police.
But when they arrived, who did they find nervously sitting next to the plastic bags carrying their groceries?
Upon finding him unharmed, the men erupted into a frenzy of dance and impromptu praise-singing and mockery that earned him the name Umfan’ owabaleka namaCheckers
In the hostels he learnt more than dancing and strumming the guitar. He learnt Zulu life and culture – stick fighting, traditional dance, ukuphalaza, the use of intelezi and the sacred ways of healing
But what intrigued him most were the stories of the men – proud warriors in their villages and regions reduced to sweeping the streets for a pittance in the city, yet they continued to embrace life with a sense of humour

esterday Barnes sent out a tweet saying President Cyril Ramaphosa must appoint the 100 best people to fix the country. He said the president should start with 10 people, and that it is the last chance for South Africa.
He joins me now.
Mark, thank you so much for joining us. What was the context of this tweet? Was it a tweet in anger, or have you been considering making this proposal for a while?
MARK BARNES: Well, I had just finished watching the news and, in fact, reading the papers on Sunday and I couldn’t find any good news whatsoever.
Every element of our construct seems to be at risk, ranging from education to electricity, to water, to social order, to economic order – and you just get the sense that everything we look at more closely looks worse than we expect it to be.
And so you go, ‘What is the root cause of this, because we have so many things in our favour in South Africa?’ We are gifted with natural resources, we have wonderful weather, we have all of those good things.
Now we have to go to the root cause, which is leadership. We have not yet managed to intersect political and economic power in South Africa, in the new South Africa, in the post-1994 South Africa.
That is where the gap is. So we sit on opposite sides of a table with an inferiority complex about business on the one hand, and a superiority complex about business on the other, with levers of power that are not wishing to intersect with experience.
We must get over it, man, because what we really need is to hold hands and we need to get over our baggage and our continuing divides, including racism which continues, including poverty and inequality and all those things which we need to leave at the door.
We need to sit down and face the realities of this beautiful country and fix them together.

We saw a great deal of misinformation about the outbreak and the nature of the virus circulating on social media. The fake news around the outbreak not only created a great deal of uncertainty, but was incredibly dangerous; there were trends such as gargling bleach or supposed home remedies that could cure the virus.
Additionally, the best possible way for us to fight the virus is to flatten the curve – decrease the speed at which the virus spreads, through social distancing.
Coronapp not only informs people about the basics of the virus but encourages those of us who can afford to stay at home to practise social distancing to lessen the load on the South African healthcare system.
At the time we created the platform, there wasn’t a centralised platform where individuals could get reliable and up-to-date information. Coming from software development backgrounds, we knew a well-built platform could help South Africans protect themselves and their families from the outbreak.
How long did it take to build?
It took us one weekend to build it. We worked around the clock from morning until late at night throughout the weekend. However, development is an ongoing process of adding features that are most helpful to people using it.

Mteto Nyati Nyati has been instrumental in the turnaround of fortunes at Altron since he was appointed as chief executive in April 2017.
Under Nyati the group adopted a new #turnaround strategy, which included the sale of non-core assets
It yielded fruits immediately as the group reported a profit of R168 million from all operations in the year to end February 2018, compared with a loss of R302m a year earlier.
The share price has already responded positively as it leapt by more than 218 percent in four years with Nyathi at the helm by climbing from R11 a share to a high of R35 at the beginning of December
The momentum was broken when Altron unbundled Bytes UK and listed it separately on the London Stock Exchange
Nyati said the decision followed a review of its portfolio, which showed that Bytes’ value was not reflected in the Altron group’s share price
Nyati was also honoured with the #Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Management in 2020 and Business Leader of the Year in 2019

People told me this joke: How do you make a small fortune in the rocket industry? 'You start with a large one' is the punch line."
Musk said SpaceX "just barely made it there" with Falcon 1's successful launch; a fourth failure would have bankrupted the company.
"That's all the money we had for that fourth launch, and ... that wasn't even enough to save the company.
We also then had to win the NASA cargo-resupply contract," Musk said. "Those are the two key things that saved SpaceX.
Otherwise, we would have not made it. So hey, I think those doubters were — their probability assessment was correct. But fortunately, fate has smiled upon us and brought us to this day."
"Life becoming multiplanetary for the first time in the 4 1/2 billion-year history of Earth? I think this is hopefully the first step on that journey. ... That's seeming increasingly real with what happened today: getting people to orbit, finally"

"When (Nelson) Mandela spoke some 20 years ago about how sport has the power to unite, we felt that first hand with this group of players," Kolisi said.
"We come from different backgrounds, speak different languages and all have a different challenges, but we came together for the game we love.
We had one goal, fought for each other and with one main goal, we came together and gave it all we could.
"This was not only about South Africa coming together, but also inspiring kids to live their dreams.
Now kids from townships know that they can achieve their dream. We all have beautiful and inspiring stories to tell."

Ntando Thabethe is one woman who is proving that the agriculture sector is not just for men.
Thabethe lost her job in mechanical engineering sales because her company relocated from Pinetown to Johannesburg and she could not move because of her family
With more time on her hands, Thabethe decided to turn her attention to their large backyard. Her husband gave Thabethe R389 to do her hair but she had other plans.
Instead of getting a new haircut, she used the money to buy seeds. Said Thabethe: "My husband gave me money to do my hair, but I decided not to go to the salon. Instead, I bought seeds worth R389 with it, and when I got home, my husband was surprised by my decision."
At first, she wanted to feed only her family and Thabethe decided to plant broccoli, cauliflower, peppers and spinach.
However, she ended up having more vegetables than what her family needed and decided to sell some of them to other members in the community Thabethe not only became a superstar in her community but also attracted the attention of a Pick 'n Pay store
Since then, business has been booming. Thabethe started her own company, Elite Crop, and in just a couple of years she has been supplying around eight tons of frozen vegetables monthly

Raised in Hammanskraal and schooled at St. Barnabas College in Bosmont, Johannesburg, Makhaya went on to study at Oxford where she read for a Masters and an MBA. She added a second MSc.
Upon her return to South Africa, she quickly climbed the corporate ranks at AngloGold Ashanti, Genesis Analytics and in various other management consultancy and corporate roles.
But then, Makhaya started in public service at the Competition Commission where she became deputy commissioner. In that role, she was part of the team which red-carded the construction cartel for collusion. This was a landmark moment in South Africa, shedding light on the skewed structure of the economy, which is strangled by anti-competitiveness.
She subsequently branched out on her own but was then headhunted by Ramaphosa when he became president.
At this week's investment conference, Makhaya avoided the limelight, watching carefully in the wings as pledges unfolded, promising billions of rands in investment and as much as 412,000 jobs over the medium to long term. It was clear that hundreds of hours of work had gone into the conference in a rare (but hopefully growing) spirit of South African can-do.

As one listened to him on Sunday, one could not but be filled with pride. While some might quibble about some of the decisions taken by the cabinet and announced by the president on Sunday, the one thing which nobody can gainsay is this:
Finally, in his address to the nation on Sunday evening, Ramaphosa showed admirable leadership.
He demonstrated that, during a national crisis, he and his cabinet can be relied upon to analyse whatever challenges correctly and to take the necessary corrective actions.
That, after all, is what leadership is about. It is not about endless consultations and the fear to take action because there is bound to be a group out there that will be critical and disapprove of the chosen course of action.
Instead, it is about dispassionately diagnosing a problem, regardless of its nature, and having the courage to take decisive action to deal with or contain it.
The president and his team showed such leadership on Sunday.
That was visible and bold leadership on display, and it is important that we commend Ramaphosa for it — especially since a dominant and growing perception had development over the past few months that he was incapable of taking tough decisions.

Tankiso Motaung spent five years on Grayston Drive in Sandton with a placard begging for a job from passing motorists.
He eventually got employment, gaining experience and the digital know-how to develop an online marketplace platform, Red Puppy.
Motaung, an electrical engineer, says after being frustrated by long queues in the shops and difficulty finding the right products at the right price, he decided to launch Red Puppy earlier this month.
He tells ITWeb his 100% black-owned online marketplace also has iOS and Android apps, and is not just another ordinary platform.
“One of the features that distinguishes Red Puppy is we see beyond the entrepreneurs. Our blog’s focus is on the person behind the brand. The opulent experience we offer including the gifting section. Our focus on local brands. We understand the people's needs because we are the people.”
Motaung and his team believe Red Puppy can offer South Africans an opportunity to shop from the comfort of their homes without worrying about crowded malls and shops.
The platform also wants a slice of SA’s estimated R10 billion online shopping sector. Motaung hopes to take on global online giants such as Amazon and local firm Takealot.

Despite all odds, Tesla’s ascension continues with the shattering of another record.
On Wednesday, the electric automaker’s stock prices surged so high that it reached a valuation of $100 billion dollars—making it the first publicly traded U.S. carmaker to surpass that high mark.
This news means Tesla is officially worth more than General Motors and Ford combined—despite both auto giants century-long head start Elon Musk’s industry disruptor, according to Reuters.
Share prices have more than doubled over the last three months and the trend continued when their value increased by 8.1 percent to $591.78 on late Wednesday morning. Less the month ago, the same shares were going for $420 apiece.
Such a rapid rise can be attributed “to the inflection in electric vehicle demand globally,” Wedbush analyst Dan Ives wrote in an email to Reuters.
"The skeptics have been proven wrong, and the $100 billion market cap is sending the bears into hibernation mode.”
Expanded production in China certainly hasn’t hurt things.
A fringe benefit of its towering price tag is that it could make it easier to attract talent to its ranks. That’s becoming an increasing challenge for California-based companies as scores of them fiercely compete

"Fourteen years ago, Steve stood on this stage and told your predecessors: “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.”
When Steve got sick, I had hardwired my thinking to the belief that he would get better. I not only thought he would hold on, I was convinced, down to my core, that he’d still be guiding Apple long after I, myself, was gone.
Then, one day, he called me over to his house and told me that it wasn’t going to be that way.
Even then, I was convinced he would stay on as chairman. That he’d step back from the day to day but always be there as a sounding board.
But there was no reason to believe that. I never should have thought it. The facts were all there.
And when he was gone, truly gone, I learned the real, visceral difference between preparation and readiness.
It was the loneliest I’ve ever felt in my life. By an order of magnitude. It was one of those moments where you can be surrounded by people, yet you don’t really see, hear or even feel them. But I could sense their expectations.
When the dust settled, all I knew was that I was going to have to be the best version of myself that I could be.
Don’t waste your time living someone else’s life. Don’t try to emulate the people who came before you"

"When they said it to me at first, I was like no, I am not going to change my hair. But then I sat down and really thought about it.
"I was like: these people are asking me to change my hair because they don't feel like my hair is beautiful because that is what it said to me," said Tunzi.
The Eastern Cape beauty said changing her hair would've meant that she also did not believe that she was beautiful with her natural hair.
"If I did put on artificial hair then that means I believe that I am not beautiful and I believe that women who look like me are not beautiful, which is why I thought, I am just going to go full-on the way that I am.
"I see myself as beautiful as any other women and that is why I went on this way."
Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi said her decision not to wear a wig while competing in the pageant was based on seeing the need to redefine beauty standards.
Zozibini sat down with CNN Full Circle host Anderson Cooper and explained why it was important for her not to listen to people who encouraged her to wear a wig during the pageant.

Acclaimed artist Dr Esther Mahlangu has become the first South African to have her distinctive Ndebele-inspired artwork displayed on the interior of a customised Rolls Royce Phantom.
Gogo Mahlangu has worked with many global brands over the years. Among her notable feats is her collaboration with BMW, creating amazing artwork for the car manufacturer’s 7 Series in 2016.
She transformed the interior of the luxury BMW sedan into a dynamic work of art by painting her characteristic motifs on the interior wooden trims.
This was the second time that the prominent artist joined forces with BMW, having first collaborated with BMW 25 years earlier on an Art Car project. In 1991, Mahlangu became the first woman to create artwork on a BMW 525i Sedan, based on her Ndebele heritage.
Committed to preservation of Ndebele heritage
Mahlangu is committed to preserving this heritage. In an SABC interview, she shared her hopes:
“I want the younger generation to understand. I don’t want it lost through the generations. The younger generation needs to know about art and their heritage. I am trying to teach them something new and hopefully they will be excited as much as I am about art and preserving my heritage.”

Ouma placed a box of snacks — including water bottles, sodas, Oreos and Nutter Butters — next to her front door. She left a note along with the presents, addressed to UPS, USPS, Amazon and FedEx drivers.
"Please take some goodies to enjoy on your route. Thank you for making holiday shopping easy," Ouma's note read.
The treats seemed to have a massive effect on one Amazon worker, who Ouma later identified as Karim Earl Reed III. Security camera footage from Ouma's doorstep shows Reed's genuine, heartwarming reaction to the goodies, which quickly became a viral sensation.
"Oh, this is nice!" Reed shouts as he notices the snacks. "Ah, they got some goodies! Wow! Oh, this is sweet! Oh, wow, get out of here!"
Reed then takes a few bags of food and water bottle, all while continuously praising the kindness of the gift. He can even be heard saying, "This is so nice" to himself again as he walks away.

"You've got to be willing to crash and burn ... you've got to act and you've got to be willing to fail"
Fresh after securing a historic Premier League title, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp rocked up to training in a modest 'family car' in comparison to some of the superstars like Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
The 53-year-old German achieved the unthinkable five years since his arrival on Merseyside by leading the English club to their first league title in three decades.
A feat of toppling Pep Guardiola's incredible Manchester City squad after the near-miss in the 2018/19 season speaks to the incredible mindset he's instilled within the Reds squad.
And as their manager and leader, his modest choice of vehicle in the form of an Opel Insignia typifies his character, having described himself as 'the normal one' at his official unveiling in 2015.
The Insignia which starting price is £18,000 (R380 000) is a far cry from the luxury sports cars and SUV's that pull up at Melwood on a daily basis.
Mane and Salah arrived this week in matching Bentley Continental's which price ranges between R3m and R4m based on the engine type and extras included.
Roberto Firimino rocked up in a bright yellow Lamborghini Urus worth a staggering R5.2-million while the likes of Andy Robertson and Fabinho's lavish rides can also be seen in the gallery above.
outh African Finance Minister Tito Mboweni told selected clients of two of the country’s biggest banks that the National Treasury has no plans to boost income, corporate or value-added tax even as the coronavirus decimates the nation’s finances.
The Treasury is discussing the possibility of an inheritance tax and a so-called solidarity tax in a bid to raise additional finances, two people who listened to the calls with hundreds of clients of Standard Bank and Absa said.
They asked not to be identified because the calls were private.
Mboweni’s room to raise levies for individuals and companies is limited, with the ratio of tax revenue to gross domestic product at 26% compared to a global average of 15%, according to World Bank data.
Increasing value-added tax, which the government has done only twice since 1991, is unpopular within the ruling African National Congress because it is seen as affecting the country’s poorest people hardest.
Taxes on the wealthy are favoured politically and a solidarity tax, associated with the virus outbreak, would be limited in duration.
In a special adjustment budget last week, the government cut its revenue projection for the current fiscal year to R1.12 trillion
"The president invited me to visit him in his office at the Union Buildings in Pretoria. We talked about all things - not just the World Cup. He wanted to know a lot about me.
"There were so many high-powered people waiting outside to see him and every time Mary (Mxadana, Mandela's assistant) would come in to hurry him up he would say to her: "Mary, I'm speaking to my captain."
"I was so nervous before I went into his office and when I left I sat in my car and just felt I had been in the presence of a very wise and caring man and I felt safe.
"I know it sounds bizarre. You have no idea of his aura, the genuineness, the sense of humour. We laughed. There was an immediate bond," says Pienaar.
The bond between the rugby player and the struggle hero would extend well beyond the World Cup.
"He invited himself to our wedding," laughs Pienaar. "We were having a celebration at the Union Buildings and I said I wanted to introduce him to my fiancé Nerine. He took her hand and said "would you feel offended if I come to your wedding Nerine?"
"When my son Jean was born he said he wanted to be his godfather, 'if we didn't mind', and he gave him a Xhosa name: Mkhokheli, which means leader.
Earlier this year, Ramaphosa said a new smart city will be constructed in Lanseria, with room for between 350,000 to 500,000 people.
He said the city will not only be smart and 5G network ready, but will be a leading benchmark for green infrastructure across the continent and internationally.

The mega project, which will take 28 years to complete, will support cruise tourism, light boat building, and maritime education among many other activities.
Space Infrastructure Hub
The project will cost R3.1 billion – and will develop satellite infrastructure, including “earth observation satellites”.
"Domestic access to this type of infrastructure will reduce South Africa’s reliance on other countries for the type of information that these satellites can make available and is expected to reduce the timeframes for collecting necessary data,” says government, which estimates that the investment will generate R1.38 billion in GDP in the first year.
Limpopo Science and Technology Park in Polokwane
The planned R4.7 billion park will focus on research and development as well as startups
This week, on land north of Toronto that previously burned in a wildfire, drones are hovering over fields and firing seed pods into the ground, planting native pine and spruce trees to help restore habitat for birds.
Flash Forest, the Canadian startup behind the project, plans to use its technology to plant 40,000 trees in the area this month.
By the end of the year, as it expands to other regions, it will plant hundreds of thousands of trees. By 2028, the startup aims to have planted a full 1 billion trees.
The company believes that technology can help the world reach ambitious goals to restore forests to stem biodiversity loss and fight climate change.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change says that it’s necessary to plant 1 billion hectares of trees—a forest roughly the size of the entire United States—to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
Existing forests need to be protected while new trees are planted; right now, that isn’t working well. “There are a lot of different attempts to tackle reforestation,” says Flash Forest cofounder and chief strategy officer Angelique Ahlstrom.
“But despite all of them, they’re still failing, with a net loss of 7 billion trees every year.
When I posted this video on a Sunday afternoon with a one liner intro, little did I expect that my mini post could turn into the most viewed one of my entire LinkedIn career, with 135,518 views (at the time of posting, and counting) as well as 759 likes and 71 comments
and here is the video - please make sure you watch it to the end (1 minute 29 seconds only) to fully understand the impact this made on LinkedIn
This post just kept climbing, even after a full week of having posted it on LinkedIn - which is almost unheard of in terms of viral longevity - and here are the lessons I have learnt from going viral on LinkedIn:
"Hats off to the officials! Good people are still on this earth!"
"What a lovely story. An excellent start to the day. I love the caring attitude"
"I love this clip. This made us human unique and above the rest. And we have responsibility to protect the nature. Co existence with nature."
Just beautiful. That is what we (humans) are here to do - to manage the environment and help all species survive and thrive. It is how we ensure our own survival.
3. INSPIRATION beats DESPERATION: If there is one thing that I have learnt from holding hundreds of LinkedIn workshops and interacting with thousands of LinkedIn members, it is this --- what people really want in this NEW Economy, more than anything is Inspiration and Motivation.
In a world filled with negative news and desperation, people want to feel HOPEFUL and POSITIVE about the Future and you should deliver as much inspiration (if not more) than just information
4. SLOW NEWS beats BREAKING NEWS: The Italians have a saying that goes like this "Qui va piano, va sano e va lontano" (The one who goes slowly, goes well and far) - The average life time of a viral post on LinkedIn is 2-3 days - after which views drop off dramatically -
contrary to the LinkedIn algorithms, this post kept picking up speed day after day, even after a full week - which indicates that good news that celebrates humanity and inspires us to embrace the goodness of others, can outlast the daily frenzy of breaking news and hyped news alerts
There is no doubt that video content is far outpacing text - and this trend is only there to grow - however, what people really want is authentic and real life video, not corporate content that only serves to push your product
Think about it - how best can you let your humanity shine and share insights from your own life and those of others that inspire and instruct?
As a result of this one post, my LinkedIn Profile views went up by almost 200% - and my invitations to connect more than doubled during the days of the LinkedIn Viralocity
and here are the analytics which LinkedIn provides me with - showing from which companies my viewers are coming from, which are their titles and where they are from geographical
So, how best should I leverage my LinkedIn Viralocity? I have been thinking about this long and hard and I believe this is where your leadership philosophy comes inIn other words, what is the key life principle that you believe in - and the one you are propagating to your audience on LinkedIn?
In my case, it is the principle of reciprocation - the more you give, the more you get - a way of life that is contrary to what we have come to learn in school - that is you have to become a Go-Getter - and rather placing your life on service of others and becoming a Go-Giver (and I highly encourage you to read the book with the same title (The Go-Giver) by bestselling author Bob Burg
It was the American father of personal development, Jim Rohn, who kept saying, "To have more, you have to become more" - as well as
Your personal philosophy is the greatest determining factor in how your life works out
